Job summary

PCL Buildings Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Project Engineer to support contract administration, schedule management and coordination with trade partners on Phoenix projects.

You will contribute to design coordination, document control and ensuring quality and safety standards on-site. The role emphasizes problem solving, strong communication, and adaptability in a fast-paced construction environment.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of construction experience in an operational role preferred.
• Associates or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Understanding of construction equipment, drawings and specs, HSE, quality, materials and standards.
• Ability to apply basic engineering/problem solving to construction challenges.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication.
• Demonstrates flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Planning, organizational and time management skills with multi-tasking.
• Ability to build a comprehensive schedule.
• Ability to coordinate subcontracts and contract documents.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and internal systems, with openness to new technology.

Responsibilities

• Maintains contract with select trade partners and handles subcontract administration, including defining scope and supervising progress.
• Participates in change management and change order processes, pricing, and cost/schedule impact assessment.
• Maintains project documents, RFIs, shop drawings, submittals and as-built drawings (BLDG and CIVIL).
• Collaborates with project team lead on design supervision and submittal schedules.
• Reviews trade partners’ submittals for scope and design compliance before design review.
• Coordinates with project manager and superintendent to manage site performance, cost, schedule and quality.
• Prepares and supervises progress claims and estimates.
• Manages inventory and tracking of materials/equipment and expediting orders.
• Supports site inspections and resolves constructability and coordination issues.
