Job summary

Independence Construction, Inc. is expanding our team and seeks a Project Engineer to support PMs and Superintendents on Northeast Ohio construction projects. You will coordinate with subs and vendors, manage budgets, RFI and submittal processes, and help maintain master schedules.

The role emphasizes QA/QC, cost control, and documentation across drawings, change orders, and meetings with Owners/Architects/CMs. A bachelor’s in CM or engineering and 1–3 years’ experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1-3 years of previous related experience is required.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Knowledge of budgeting and expense control.
• Able to write reports and business correspondence.
• Able to organize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
• Computer skills: Microsoft Office applications.
• Strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with subs, vendors, and project team.
• Administer and monitor contracts with Owners, subs and vendors.
• Coordinate materials and services for the job site with the superintendent.
• Schedule and manage meetings during construction and preconstruction.
• Assist PM with budget management, revisions, cost projections, and cash flow.
• Review and coordinate structural, architectural and MEP drawings.
• Assist PM in change management oversight.
• Review subcontractor proposals for scope changes and negotiate costs.
• Log changes to correct cost codes and issue change orders.
• Maintain log updates for drawings, submittals, and RFIs.
• Coordinate owner/architect/CM meetings.
• Process subcontractor payment applications and assist owner payments.
• Assist in creating/updating the Master Schedule and QA/QC program.
• Assist with Close-out and punch list processes.
• Coordinate warranty requirements during the warranty period.
