Job summary

Barton Malow is seeking a General Trades Project Engineer to help oversee the construction effort and ensure projects are built safely and in accordance with design, budget, and schedule.

This role partners closely with the Project Manager and field teams across estimating, procurement, field operations, and cost management, offering a path to grow within a collaborative, fast-paced construction environment in Detroit.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
• Internship or field experience preferred.
• Familiarity with estimating, quantity takeoff, and project management software.
• Understanding of RFI and submittal processes.
• Strong organization, communication, and time management skills.
• Ability to work on-site in a fast-paced project environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage the bidding process and bid documents.
• Solicit, evaluate, and write subcontracts.
• Perform quantity takeoffs and assist with proposals.
• Oversee RFI and submittal processes.
• Support field operations and labor relations.
• Assist PM with startup docs and meetings.
• Develop cost for scope changes and track logs.
• Review budget entries and oversee closeout.
