Job summary

Barton Malow Company in Southfield, MI is seeking a Construction Engineering Manager to lead field operations across multiple contracts from 9am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. The role requires coordinating with engineers, fabricators, and field staff using 3D modeling tools and robust scheduling software.

Ideal candidates will have a Civil/Construction Engineering degree, 8+ years of relevant experience, OSHA 30, and a proven track record managing complex installations including steel erection

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Construction Engineering or equivalent.
• 8+ years leading construction management or superintendent roles in commercial buildings.
• Experience directing field operations for large projects including steel erection, roofing, and siding.
• Proficiency with 3D modeling and scheduling tools (Revit/Tekla/Bentley, Primavera P6, MS Project).
• OSHA 30 Hour Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations for multiple concurrent contracts on commercial/institutional projects.
• Interpret drawings to guide field staff and coordinate with engineers using 3D models.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules integrating fabrication, delivery, and installation timelines.
• Perform on-site reviews at fabrication facilities to ensure spec conformance and resolve issues.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve design conflicts and implement field-driven enhancements using AutoCAD/BlueBeam.

Multiple Positions: Barton Malow Company has an opening for a Construction Engineering Manager at 26500 American Drive, Southfield, MI 48034. 40 hrs/wk. 9am - 5pm. M-F.

Responsibilities

• Lead field operations for construction projects including steel erection (5,000+ tons), roofing, and siding installations across multiple concurrent contracts.
• Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to guide non-engineered field staff in executing complex scopes utilizing 3D modeling software like Revit, Tekla or Bentley.
• Develop and manage detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project, integrating fabrication, delivery, and installation timelines.
• Conduct on-site reviews at international fabrication facilities to ensure compliance with client specifications and resolve design-to-fabrication discrepancies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve design conflicts and implement field-driven design enhancements utilizing AutoCAD and BlueBeam.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or a foreign degree equivalent.
• 8 years of experience as a Construction Manager and/or Superintendent in commercial and institutional building construction.
• Experience leading field operations for construction projects including steel erection (5,000+ tons), roofing, and siding installations across multiple concurrent contracts.
