Job summary

Rockford Park District is seeking a motivated Construction Project Engineer to join our Grand Rapids team. You will support construction projects from planning through field coordination, helping manage costs, documents, and site activities to keep work on schedule and within budget.

You will work under market leaders and project managers to oversee progress, verify plans, and ensure compliance with contract documents, specs, and applicable codes while coordinating with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management is required.
• 1–3 years of construction experience or internship/co-op.
• Proficiency in construction software and MS Office.
• Familiarity with scheduling software is a plus.
• Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Foster an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Monitor project budgets, schedules, and subcontractor performance with updates.
• Address client needs and requests throughout the project lifecycle.
• Review engineering deliverables and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain bid sites with plans, specs, and addenda.
• Develop scopes of work and compile project manuals.
• Track and distribute bulletins with pricing for PMs.
• Maintain and update project information in PM software.
• Document meetings and participate in PM discussions.
• Provide updated unit pricing for estimating.
• Review and process contract material submittals and RFIs.
• Field quality assurance and conformance; monitor safety on site.
