Job summary

Colorado Mechanical Systems, Inc. is seeking a Project Engineer to join our team in Centennial, CO. The role supports Project Managers, Estimators, Foremen, and Superintendents on multiple projects from award to closeout.

The candidate will manage documents, process submittals, coordinate equipment deliveries, assist with monthly billing, and help with RFIs and project information. Strong communication and organization are essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering/Construction Management or 3 years of project support experience.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, specifications, contracts, and submittals.
  • Basic knowledge of project budgets.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word). Bluebeam is a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organization, detail orientation, multitasking, problem solving, and ability to work independently or with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all project documentation (contracts, drawings, subcontracts, O&M’s, daily reports).
  • Process submittals from vendors through revisions and equipment releases.
  • Track and coordinate all equipment deliveries.
  • Assist Project Managers with monthly billing and pay applications.
  • Support field with RFIs and project information coordination.
  • Participate in preplanning and ensure project execution.
  • Oversee cost accounting via PO’s, subcontracts, and change orders.
  • Schedule and attend project meetings.
  • Communicate with General Contractors, Vendors, Subcontractors, and Management staff.
  • Prepare and submit close‑out documentation (IOMs, warranty letters, as‑builts).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Project Engineer

Colorado Mechanical Systems is currently seeking a qualified candidate who has a desire to be an essential project member in a very fast‑paced and ever‑changing industry within a growing company. Working hand in hand with Project Managers, Estimators, Foremen, and General Superintendents, you will be assigned multiple projects in which you will take from award to closeout.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Manage all project documentation including but not limited to: Contracts, Drawings, Subcontracts, O&M’s, Daily Reports, etc.
  • Processing submittals from vendors to work through revisions and equipment releases
  • Tracking and coordinating all equipment deliveries
  • Assisting Project Managers with monthly billing activities and submitting monthly pay applications
  • Supporting the field with coordinating RFIs and providing project information
  • Takes part in preplanning and ensuring project execution
  • Oversees project cost accounting by issuing and tracking PO’s, subcontracts, and change orders
  • Scheduling and attending project meetings
  • Communication with General Contractors, Vendors, Subcontractors, and Management Staff.
  • Request, package, and submit any and all close‑out documentation (including IOM’s, warranty letters, as‑built/red lines, etc.) to General Contractors
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Either a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering/Construction Management or 3 years of previous experience with project support preferably in the mechanical/plumbing industry.
  • Capable of reading, understanding, and interpreting blueprints, specifications, contracts, and submittals.
  • Basic knowledge of project budgets.
  • Proficient at Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word. Bluebeam is a plus.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Successful candidates will show superior organization, detail orientation, ability to multitask, problem solving skills, and work independent or as part of a team.
Pay/Benefits

Salary Range: $65,000–$75,000/year depending on skill and experience. Benefits offered (Health, vision, dental, 401k). Job Type: Full‑time.
