Job summary

Peckham Industries Inc. is seeking a Project Coordinator to support DOT heavy highway asphalt paving projects in MA and CT, ensuring documentation, material tracking, and cost monitoring.

You will bridge field and office teams to keep projects compliant with schedules and budgets. Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of construction, project coordination, or related experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of construction operations, specs, and workflows (DOT experience preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with Procore, HCSS, Viewpoint preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate between field and office teams.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specs, and contract documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines with accuracy.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to jobsites as needed.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Drive financial and schedule performance by monitoring costs and progress, identifying variances, and supporting corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready project records by controlling documentation.
  • Facilitate timely decision-making by managing RFIs and submittals with field and design stakeholders.
  • Assist in developing and distributing detailed, actionable project schedules.
  • Coordinate permits and administrative requirements to keep projects moving forward.
  • Protect project profitability by coordinating, preparing, and negotiating change orders with stakeholders.
  • Lead weekly owner meetings and document key decisions and actions.
  • Support site safety initiatives and environmental documentation coordination.
  • Assist with subcontractor billings and pay applications in alignment with project progress.
  • Ensure uninterrupted field operations by assigning CBYD tickets for excavation activities.

Overview
The Project Coordinator supports Project Managers and Superintendents in the successful delivery of MA and CT DOT heavy highway asphalt paving projects. This role ensures accurate project documentation, material tracking, and cost monitoring while facilitating communication between field and office teams. The Project Coordinator plays a key role in maintaining project efficiency, compliance, and alignment with schedule and budget objectives.

OfficeReporting: During the off‑season, the Project Coordinator will primarily work from the office, with occasional field visits to assess the scope of work for upcoming bids. Travel during this period is expected to be between 0% to 40%.

WorkEnvironment/PhysicalDemands:

The position offers a hybrid work environment, encompassing both office‑based responsibilities and fieldwork at construction sites. Heavy work that includes moving objects up to 50 lb. or more. This position works on one near moving mechanical parts and loud equipment. Requires the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time as well as lifting, pulling, bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, walking, reaching, driving, and repetitive motion.
