Job summary

EPI Power is seeking an experienced Project Controls Engineer for a Boydton, VA project. The role emphasizes cost control, scheduling, reporting, and coordination with stakeholders on a fast-track data center build.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years in construction project management; cost control and scheduling experience preferred.
  • LEAN principles experience desirable; OSHA 10/30 helpful or willing to obtain.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder coordination required.

Responsibilities

  • Track and control project production rates through WBS, standards, and variance analysis.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, commissioning tracking, and site logistics.
  • Help define scope, budget, schedule, milestones, and critical paths.
  • Monitor costs and schedules; identify risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Facilitate team coordination with subcontractors and stakeholders via meetings and reports.
  • Support quality control, documentation, contract administration, and compliance.

Job description

EPI Power is looking for an experienced Project Controls Engineer to be located on a project in Boydton, VA!

This role requires the ability to work 6 days per week, Monday – Saturday.

What You’ll Do
  • Track and control project production rates by defining work breakdown structures (WBS), establishing production standards, measuring actual performance, analyzing variances, and implementing corrective actions to maintain productivity and schedule adherence. Prepare regular reports to communicate trends, progress, and improvement opportunities.
  • Manage project controls functions including RFIs, submittals, change orders, commissioning tracking in Compass, and site logistics coordination to support efficient project execution.
  • Support project planning and execution by collaborating with stakeholders to define scope, budget, schedule, milestones, and critical paths, while monitoring performance against established targets.
  • Monitor and control project costs and schedules, identify risks and potential delays, and develop mitigation strategies to keep projects on track and within budget.
  • Facilitate effective communication and coordination among project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders through regular meetings, reporting, and performance updates.
  • Ensure quality, compliance, and documentation standards are met by supporting quality control processes, maintaining accurate project documentation, and assisting with contract administration and compliance with contractual requirements.
What We’re Looking For
  • Education:
    • An industry-related college degree is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Experience:
    • A minimum of three (3) years of construction project management experience is required.
    • LEAN principles experience is desirable.
    • OSHA 10 or 30 preferred, or the willingness to obtain upon hire.
  • Skills:
    • Attention to detail, time management, judgment, communication, solid leadership, client relations, negotiation, project management, solid construction knowledge, decision-making, conflict resolution, tact, adaptable, problem solving, personal initiative and analytical abilities are all necessary skills.
  • Technology:
    • Proficiency in basic computer software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
    • Employee should have the ability to learn other software (ex: JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, Asta).
    • Training will be provided on company standards.
