Job summary

HazTek Safety Management seeks an experienced Project Accounting and Audit Specialist to provide financial oversight and audit support for a major construction project through 2029.

You will monitor budgets, review invoices and pay applications for accuracy, coordinate with field personnel to validate billed work, and prepare cost reports and cash-flow forecasts while ensuring auditable project documentation.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction project accounting, project controls, cost management, or contract auditing.
• Knowledge of contractor pay applications, change orders, commitments, retainage, and project forecasting.
• Strong analytical, reconciliation, organization, and communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project accounting or ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Monitor project budgets, commitments, forecasts, purchase orders, invoices, and expenditures.
• Review contractor invoices and pay applications for accuracy, contractual compliance, retainage, stored materials, and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate with project and field personnel to validate billed work and reported progress.
• Audit contracts, change orders, vendor commitments, invoices, and other project financial records.
• Prepare cost reports, variance analyses, cash-flow forecasts, and financial summaries.
• Research billing discrepancies and support project reconciliation and financial closeout.
• Maintain accurate, organized, and auditable project documentation.
