Job summary

The Planet Group is hiring a Divisional Accountant in Phoenix, AZ, embedded within our project operations. You will focus on construction accounting, including accruals, reconciliations, and analysis to support PMs and the accounting team.

This role requires strong GAAP knowledge and experience with project-based accounting. Based in the Phoenix office with flexible hybrid options, the position is full-time with standard business hours and collaboration with the Phoenix team.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of accounting experience in construction or related field
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and construction revenue recognition
• Experience with job cost, WIP, and project-based accounting
• Experience with Oracle Fusion, Procore, or similar ERP/project accounting systems
• Advanced Excel skills including pivot tables and lookups

Responsibilities

• Serve as liaison between project managers and accounting, attending meetings to ensure alignment on project financials
• Deliver timely WIP reporting, job cost reporting, and profitability analysis to PMs and leadership
• Conduct monthly budget-to-actual analyses for assigned projects and communicate variances clearly
• Calculate and reconcile monthly cost accruals including sales tax and insurance
• Prepare and maintain WIP schedules and support revenue recognition under percent-of-completion or completed contract methods
• Support month-end/quarter-end/year-end close with journal entries and reconciliations
