Job summary

Planet Group in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Divisional Accountant to support project operations with a focus on construction accounting, WIP, and revenue recognition. You will bridge project management and accounting, ensuring accurate accruals, variances, and compliance while PMs retain budget ownership.

The ideal candidate has a BS in accounting and 2+ years of experience, strong Excel skills, and experience with construction projects.

Qualifications

BS degree and 2+ years accounting experience.
Construction accounting experience or real estate development exposure.
Ability to speak project management language and manage budgets, change orders, and percentage of completion/WIP.
Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and pivots.

Responsibilities

Serve as liaison between project managers and accounting to align on project financials and process changes.
Deliver timely WIP reports, job cost reports, and profitability analyses for leadership.
Perform monthly budget-to-actual analyses and communicate variances to PMs and leadership.
Calculate and reconcile monthly cost accruals and related charges to ensure accuracy across jobs.
Ensure alignment of recurring charges with contract terms and supporting documentation.
Support revenue recognition under appropriate methods and assist with month-end close.
