Job summary

Vision Electric & Systems in O'Fallon, MO is seeking a Project Accountant to manage accounts payable, accounts receivable and job cost systems for electrical construction projects. You will support project teams by answering invoice status inquiries and providing insights into job cost reports.

The role requires accurate coding, timely invoicing with subcontractors and vendors, and strong communication. Proficiency with DataServ and Textura, GAAP knowledge, and month-end close support are

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent knowledge; working toward BS/BA in Accounting preferred
• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience, preferably with a General Contractor or Subcontractor
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, other Microsoft Office applications, and Google Sheets
• Strong communication, organizational skills with attention to detail
• Experience with ComputerEase is a plus

Responsibilities

• Receive, code, and route invoices for appropriate approval.
• Enter approved invoices into the accounting system, ensuring accurate coding and classification.
• Review vendor records and statements; investigate and resolve billing or payment discrepancies.
• Communicate with vendors regarding payment status and respond to related inquiries.
• Assist with the preparation of 1099 forms and ensure GAAP compliance.
• Collect and maintain W-9 forms for all vendors.
• Organize and manage open and paid accounts payable files.
• Monitor subcontractor records within the accounting system.
• Verify that billings do not exceed contractual limits or pending change orders.
• Proactively request invoices from subcontractors and vendors when necessary.
• Prepare and distribute customer invoices, including AIA documentation and supporting materials.
• Process invoices electronically through DataServ and Textura.
• Generate accounts receivable aging reports and collections summaries.
• Submit invoices with required documentation per owner specifications.
• Record invoices in the accounting system and third-party software.
• Forward contracts/subcontracts to legal for review and approval.
• Prepare subcontracts and purchase orders as directed by the Project Manager.
• Ensure subcontractors receive appropriate contractual documentation.
• Assist in CCIP setup and management.
• Support month-end and year-end closing for AP/AR.
• Maintain organized financial records for audit readiness.
• Collaborate with accounting staff to improve efficiency and internal controls.
• Assist with special projects, reconciliations, and financial reporting
