Job summary

RWE Design Build is seeking a detail-oriented Project Accountant in Downers Grove, IL to support construction project accounting, month-end close, and financial reporting. Maintain accurate financial records and work with project managers to ensure financial integrity across projects and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Strong understanding of general and construction accounting principles and financial reporting.
• Experience with account reconciliations and journal entries.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Support construction project-based accounting activities and monthly construction draws.
• Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and P&L reports.
• Maintain general ledger, accounts payable files and other records.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries in a timely and accurate manner.
• Perform account reconciliations (bank, payroll, customer, vendor) regularly.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal policy adherence.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve discrepancies and inquiries.
• Provide financial analysis at multiple levels and communicate insights to leadership.
