Job summary

LHH Recruitment Solutions seeks an experienced Project Accountant for a well-established commercial general contractor in Flower Mound, TX. You will support multiple construction projects, maintain accurate job-cost data, and handle billing and payables from startup through closeout.

You will partner with project management and operations to monitor financial performance, prepare cost reports, and drive process improvements that enhance profitability and project efficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.
• 5+ years of project accounting experience with a general contractor or construction organization.
• Strong understanding of construction job costing, progress billing, lien documentation, and project financial reporting.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with high accuracy.
• Strong communication and collaboration with project managers and operations.

Responsibilities

• Monitor project financial results and identify variances between actual costs and budgets.
• Partner with Project Managers on contracts, change orders, commitments, billing, forecasting, and overall project financial performance.
• Prepare monthly project cost reports, owner billings, draws, and schedules of values.
• Track general conditions and overall job costs and communicate potential impacts to profitability.
• Review subcontractor payment applications, invoices, lien waivers, and supporting documentation.
• Maintain job-cost payables and perform account reconciliations.
• Coordinate timely payments to subcontractors and trade partners with complete documentation.
• Prepare lien notices and maintain project accounting and release records.
• Support contract setup and administration throughout the life of projects.
• Review required insurance documentation with project and risk-management teams.
• Assist with monthly project reviews and provide financial information for forecasting and decision-making.
• Identify opportunities to strengthen billing and improve financial controls.
