Job summary

Salisbury & Moore Construction is seeking a Project Accountant to support the financial administration of assigned construction projects in Raleigh, NC. The role involves project billing, cost review, subcontractor compliance, lien waivers, and closeout activities.

Collaborate with Project Management, Accounting, subcontractors, vendors, and owners to ensure accurate and timely financial information and reporting across multiple ongoing projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Accounting/Finance/Business or related field.
• 1–3 years of construction accounting, project accounting, billing, or accounts payable experience preferred.
• Minimum 1–3 years in construction with project coordination exposure.

Responsibilities

• Manage project accounting activities from setup through financial closeout.
• Review project invoices for accuracy, coding, tax treatment, and documentation.
• Coordinate subcontractor billing, retention, and lien waiver requirements.
• Monitor subcontractor and vendor compliance and resolve documentation issues.
• Maintain project commitments, change orders, budgets, and cost codes.
• Prepare owner billing packages and track owner billings and payments.
• Coordinate final billing and subcontractor retention releases during closeout.
• Support out-of-state contractor tax withholding and compliance requirements.
• Research and resolve complex invoice, vendor, subcontractor, and project accounting issues.
• Communicate with project managers, subcontractors, vendors, and owners on financial matters.
• Prepare and maintain project financial reports, projections, and schedules.
