Job summary

Upstate Companies is looking for a Construction Project Accountant to support financial operations for construction projects from setup to completion. The role handles project accounting, billing, contract administration, reporting, and regulatory compliance to keep accurate records and timely project reporting.

You will set up projects with SOV and DOL requirements, process invoices and billings, manage subcontracts, and prepare periodic aging and compliance reports.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in accounting, finance, business or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Three years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Knowledge of construction job costing, project accounting, progress billing, and subcontract administration.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills with attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; experience with construction accounting software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up construction projects, including Schedule of Values (SOV), DOL requirements, and job cost coding.
• Process purchase orders, AR invoices, deposits, progress billings, and ad hoc billings.
• Manage subcontracts, change orders, pay applications, and approved subcontractor payments.
• Prepare weekly AR aging reports and monitor outstanding balances.
• Prepare bonding documentation, contractor affidavits, and Builder's Risk reports.
• Maintain fuel log allocations and support project financial analysis.
• Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting procedures while maintaining accurate records.
• Perform related accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
