Job summary

ARCO Companies is seeking a Project Manager Intern to join our summer program in Canton, OH. You will assist with estimating, scheduling, design meetings, buyout, permitting, and submittal reviews under the guidance of project managers.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, exposure to bid processes and subcontractor coordination, and potential path to a full-time position. Housing stipends and competitive hourly pay accompany program benefits.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Civil/Mechanical/Architectural or Construction Management Bachelor’s degree program.
• Minimum Grade Point Average of 3.0 out of 4.0
• Previous Internship or Co-op construction experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a strong work ethic

Responsibilities

• Estimating – Describing project proposals and assigning dollar values to the projects
• Scheduling – Creating a working timeline for subcontractors/trades to complete the project on time
• Design meetings – Attend design meetings with owner and team to understand design proposals from structural engineers and architects
• Buyout – Send bid instructions, schedule, and drawings to subcontractors; receive and evaluate proposals, then award subcontracts
• Permitting – Fill out permit forms, submit forms with drawings and fees for city/county/fire approval
• Shop drawing and submittal review – Review shop drawings/submittals and coordinate with PM
• Billing – Manage subcontracts, change orders, pay requests, and pay applications
• Job site visits – Visit site with PM to ensure project runs smoothly
