Job summary

Miter is seeking a Payroll & HR Support specialist to assist construction contractors with payroll, tax, and benefits questions. You will diagnose complex payroll issues, explain solutions clearly, and collaborate with Product and Engineering to improve workflows.

The role requires strong communication, 2+ years in payroll support, and comfort with AI-enabled tools. Hybrid work is available, with offices in New York or San Francisco.

Qualifications

• 2+ years supporting payroll customers or processing payroll.
• Knowledge of federal and state payroll withholding (SUI/SUTA, 941s, W-2s).
• Experience with garnishments, multi-state withholding, and pre-/post-tax deductions.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer support inquiries via phone/screenshare and email.
• Diagnose root causes and explain solutions in plain language.
• Untangle payroll scenarios like certified payroll and prevailing wage.
• Hit SLA, Resolution, and CSAT goals.
• Collaborate with CX and Product teams across functions.
• Turn recurring issues into bug reports, feature requests, and process improvements.
