Job summary

Intertek is seeking an Engineering Technician at the Indianapolis, IN office to perform materials testing and inspection for commercial construction projects. The role includes field testing of concrete and soils, with potential laboratory work, and requires travel to project sites.

The position is entry level with a High School Diploma, a valid driver’s license, and ability to work outdoors. Preferred BS in engineering and certifications like ACI/NICET are welcome but not required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• Entry level position, no prior experience required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Applicant should be physically able to work outdoors and maneuver a wheelbarrow of concrete.

Responsibilities

• Participate in sampling and perform field testing of concrete, soils, and asphalt during construction activities.
• Prepare written reports summarizing test results and corresponding action items.
• Communicate directly with clients, contractors, and the design team to report findings, schedule testing, and provide recommendations when needed.
• Participate in monthly safety meetings and online safety training courses.
• Pick up test samples that were either previously cast or stockpiled for sampling.
