Job summary

Hillis-Carnes Engineering Associates (HCEA) seeks a Project Manager for our Northern New Jersey office. The role oversees construction materials testing for commercial and residential land development, coordinating technician staff and ensuring quality and safety on site.

Responsibilities include bid preparation, on-site inspections (soil bearing, compaction, concrete, steel), client meetings, and support to the Branch Manager.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CM, Civil Eng or Geology preferred.
• 3–5 years field or project management in geotech or construction testing.
• Engineer in Training or Registered Professional Engineer preferred but not required.
• Experience managing a $1–3 million project backlog.
• Experience estimating labor requirements and communicating with clients.

Responsibilities

• Manage construction materials testing services for commercial and residential land development.
• Supervise technician staff for earthwork, concrete, foundation, masonry, steel, EIFS, and pavement testing.
• Prepare and submit bids and proposals; attend pre-bid meetings.
• Perform on-site inspections and meet with clients; attend site meetings as needed.
