Job summary

SOCOTEC is hiring a Laboratory Technician for the Construction Materials Testing Lab in Farmingdale, NY. The role involves performing laboratory tests on concrete, soil, asphalt, and masonry, ensuring results meet ASTM and other standards, and maintaining lab equipment.

The ideal candidate has a technical/engineering background, strong math and communication skills, and is eligible to obtain ACI Concrete Testing Certifications within 6 months. Up to 50 lb lifting may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or higher.
• 2 years of lab experience or relevant certifications/degree.
• Technical/engineering background or degree.
• Ability to obtain ACI Lab Concrete Testing Certifications within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of laboratory standardized tests on construction materials (Concrete, Soil, Asphalt, Masonry).
• Report results of testing per ASTM or other standards.
• Perform laboratory maintenance and verifications of equipment.
• Execute other duties as assigned by supervisor/manager.
