Job summary

Olsson seeks a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Manager to lead QA/QC, develop service scopes and fees, and guide special inspections and materials testing on diverse construction projects.

Travel to job sites, supervise field staff, and advise clients with strong safety leadership, meeting codes and project specifications throughout the lifecycle of each project.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing as necessary to ensure success of the team.
• Supervise and lead field staff while performing accurate geotechnical and construction inspection and testing tasks.
• Review and interpret project plans and specifications and communicate requirements to team members.
• Serve as a trusted technical advisor to clients, offering consultative guidance and solutions for construction-related challenges.
• Prepare and submit timely, accurate project summary reports.
• Assist in developing job work scopes, project estimates, and proposals; provide construction recommendations as needed.
• Attend client meetings and serve as a resource for problem resolution.
• Organize and administer preconstruction conferences and other project meetings as required.
• Work in diverse terrain and weather conditions on sites at various stages of construction.
• Identify and mitigate potential safety hazards for workers and the public around project sites.

Job Description

As a Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Field Manager, you will provide overall technical expertise as part of the team by leading quality assurance/quality control, developing scope of services and estimated fees for new opportunities, directing and managing special inspections and materials testing construction projects, project staff, and budgets, and acting as an advisor on complex projects. You will travel to various job sites and work in all types of terrain and weather conditions to attend meetings with construction teams, assist field technicians, and provide technical guidance to clients during construction.

The CMT Field Manager will maintain communication with clients and project teams and ensure successful completion of special inspections and materials testing projects with respect to International Building Code, Department of Transportation standards, and individual project documents and specifications.

Preferred Certifications

• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Grade I
• ICC Special Inspector certification(s), as applicable
• OSHA 30
• Applicable DOT/CDOT materials testing certifications
• Additional ACI, CAPA, WAQTC, or ICC certifications preferred based on project needs.

Compensation

$77,000 - $101,000 USD
