Job Opportunity

WSP is looking for a Construction Materials Technician in Phoenix, AZ to join our dedicated team. Candidates should enjoy working outdoors in the construction industry and be committed to quality.

Your Impact

• Conduct field and laboratory tests to obtain data used by engineering and technical personnel in determining physical properties of construction materials
• Demonstrate integrity in all testing and reporting activities, ensuring accuracy, transparency and accountability
• Perform field and laboratory tests according to prescribed procedures, processes and standards
• Collect soil, asphalt and concrete samples, prepare samples for testing, record data, and prepare summary reports
• Use specialized equipment to prepare analyses, reports and technical drawings
• Operate computer systems and peripheral equipment
• Maintain results log and enter data using spreadsheet programs
• Confer with Engineers and Scientific staff on test and design efforts
• Set up, maintain and calibrate equipment
• Possibly lift and carry heavy samples; travel may be required (approximately 15% overnight)

Required Qualifications

• 3+ years of Construction Materials Testing experience
• Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record; drivers must be at least 21 years old
• Ability to use laboratory test equipment safely and effectively
• Understand procedure manuals and execute work orders accurately
• Prepare reports and documentation with attention to detail
• Independent worker capable of following directions
• Eligible for coverage under WSP’s fleet policy and willing to use WSP fleet vehicle(s)
• Must pass a background check

Preferred Qualifications

• Maintain required ACI and ATTI certifications for inspections
• Experience with soil or asphalt nuclear density testing
• Knowledge of materials testing and project focus
• Understanding of applicable ASTM, AASHTO and ADOT standards
