Job summary

Gonzalez Companies is a partner-run firm delivering planning, design, and construction management services across the Midwest. We seek a Construction Engineer – Materials Coordinator to ensure the right materials are available on time for civil projects.

The role involves coordinating procurement, tracking deliveries, and ensuring QA/QC of material certifications, working with field crews and project managers.

Qualifications

• IDOT certifications listed and degrees as required.
• 3+ years of materials coordination, procurement or logistics experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Procore, Viewpoint, Primavera.
• Knowledge of civil construction materials and specifications (concrete, aggregates, pipe, geotextiles).
• Ability to communicate clearly with field crews, suppliers, and project managers.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with the Contractor the procurement, delivery, and inventory of construction materials for civil engineering projects.
• Track material usage and delivery schedules to ensure timely availability of resources on job sites.
• Collaborate with project managers, field staff, and procurement teams to forecast material needs.
• Review material specifications and ensure compliance with project plans, codes, and standards.
• Maintain detailed records of material orders, receipts, and deliveries.
• Conduct regular site visits to monitor material storage, usage, and quality.
• Support QA/QC efforts by ensuring material certifications and submittals are properly submitted, filed and approved.
