Qualifications

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; college coursework preferred.
• Ability to communicate professionally orally and in writing.
• Good driving record.
• Heavy lifting up to 50+ lbs.
• Sufficient stamina to work outdoors in hot or cold environments.
• 1 year of testing experience in soil, concrete, earthwork, and asphalt preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine field and laboratory tests and inspections to verify conformance to construction plans and specs.
• Monitors, observes, and samples materials used in construction work.
• Follow procedures, perform computations, and maintain cordial relationships with coworkers and clients.
• Prepares daily reports and data sheets; operates with close to moderate supervision.
• Typical activities include observation of backfilling, reinforcement installation, concrete sampling, base stone, and asphalt densities.
