Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Engineering Test Technician to perform field and laboratory testing of construction materials, including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel. You will document results, communicate findings to stakeholders, and ensure safety and accuracy in testing across field sites and labs.

The role involves handling specialized equipment, transporting samples, and producing daily reports while maintaining strict adherence to project specifications and safety guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of construction materials testing experience.
• Hands-on concrete testing and inspection experience.
• Familiarity with construction site practices and active sites.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Strong organizational skills for samples and reporting.
• Proficient in digital reporting and data entry.
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather.
• Experience with soils, asphalt, and aggregate testing.
• Commitment to safety standards and procedures.
• Effective communication with project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel.
• Conduct concrete testing, concrete inspection, and materials testing in accordance with project specifications and applicable standards.
• Carry out construction inspection activities to verify compliance with project requirements and quality expectations.
• Transport material samples from project sites to the laboratory, ensuring proper labeling and documentation for accurate tracking.
• Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in written and digital reports for the Project Manager.
• Communicate clearly with project managers, engineers, client representatives, and contractors regarding site conditions and testing results.
• Maintain and calibrate testing equipment, vehicles, and work areas for reliability and safety.
• Assist with scheduling and dispatching technicians to project sites when needed.
