Job summary

SYSTRA is seeking Construction Managers / Resident Engineers (Civil) to support rail mass transit construction management assignments in the New York City area, including NYCT Station Improvement projects. The role requires coordinating field inspections, interfacing with contractors, and ensuring compliance with design and contract requirements.

Responsibilities include supervising field inspectors, assisting the Project Manager, reviewing submittals, and guiding the team through construction,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management.
• P.E. or C.C.M. preferred.
• Prior field experience on rail mass transit projects, preferably NYCT Station Improvement projects.
• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Supervise the daily activities of the group's field inspection personnel.
• Act as the second-in-command supporting the SYSTRA Project Manager
• Interact with the construction contractor’s site supervision on field issues to ensure compliance with the construction contract requirements.
• Regularly communicate with the owner’s representatives regarding project matters
• Become intimately familiar with the project design documents (plans and specifications)
• Review and respond to contractor submittals including RFI’s, submittals, test procedures, and related documents during construction, testing and commissioning.
• Accept flexible work hours including nights and weekends when necessary
• Attend meetings as required with client Engineering and Project Management Personnel
• Utilize expertise and experience to assist in the timely resolution of project issues
• Develop the field inspectors’ capabilities in the performance of their assigned duties

Responsibilities

The Construction Manager / Resident Engineer (Civil), under the direction of the Project Manager will:
