Qualifications

• Experience leading field crews, coordinating subcontractors, vendors, customers, and inspectors.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary field leader overseeing multiple pump, tank, and fueling-system construction projects simultaneously.
• Lead and coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, customers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
• Direct field operations for new installations, remodels, retrofits, tank-top upgrades, removals, and heavy maintenance projects.
• Oversee on-site construction processes including excavation, grading, soil conditions, dewatering, piping, panel installation, equipment setting, and tank installation.
• Assess field conditions, troubleshoot issues, and keep projects moving in the field without constant office reliance.
• Travel approximately 60% regionally across the Mid-Atlantic; Fredericksburg, VA home base when not traveling.
• Communicate with customers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field personnel; ensure safety and project requirements are met.

Construction Manager – Petroleum / Fueling Systems

Relocation: Open to relocation with assistance

(Fredericksburg, VA will serve as the home base when not traveling. Candidates who are willing to relocate to the Fredericksburg area are encouraged to apply.)

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM

Travel: Approximately 60% regional travel throughout VA, MD, NC, and DE

Compensation: $150,000–$170,000 + performance-based bonus

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong background in petroleum, fuel pump, and underground storage tank (UST) installation to lead field operations across the Mid-Atlantic region.

This is a highly hands‑on leadership position responsible for overseeing multiple petroleum and fueling‑system construction projects from the field. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with pump and tank installations, understand the complete fueling‑system construction process, and be comfortable making independent decisions in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary field leader overseeing multiple pump, tank, and fueling‑system construction projects simultaneously.
• Lead and coordinate field crews, subcontractors, vendors, customers, inspectors, and other project stakeholders.
• Direct field operations for new installations, remodels, retrofits, tank‑top upgrades, removals, and heavy maintenance projects.
• Oversee the complete on‑site construction process, including excavation, grading, soil conditions, dewatering, piping, panel installation, equipment setting, tank installation, and system installation.
• Assess field conditions, troubleshoot problems, make sound decisions, and keep projects moving without constant reliance on the office.
• Manage changing site conditions, including clay, sand, rock, groundwater, excavation challenges, and dewatering requirements.
• Understand how the various components of a fueling system work together and identify potential issues before they become larger project problems.
• Coordinate multiple active projects and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and according to customer and project requirements.
• Communicate directly with customers, subcontractors, vendors, inspectors, and field personnel.
• Provide hands‑on leadership and work alongside field crews when necessary.
• Travel throughout Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Delaware to provide project oversight and field leadership.
• Utilize Microsoft Project, Excel, and CFData/Procore–related systems to track and manage project information.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of petroleum, fuel pump, and tank installation-related experience.
• Strong understanding of the complete fueling‑system installation process, including:
• Grading
• Excavation
• Piping
• Equipment setting
• Soil conditions
• Dewatering
• Strong understanding of how petroleum fueling systems operate and how the various components work together.
• Experience overseeing or leading field crews and coordinating subcontractors, vendors, customers, and inspectors.
• Ability to independently assess site conditions, troubleshoot issues, and make decisions in the field.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Must have an installer's license or be able to obtain licensing in Maryland, North Carolina, and Delaware.
• Ability and willingness to travel approximately 60% throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

The following certifications are preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold them should be capable of obtaining them over time:

Travel Requirements

This position requires approximately 60% regional travel throughout Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Delaware.

Travel is primarily during the day, with minimal overnight travel. Fredericksburg, VA serves as the home base when the Construction Manager is not traveling.
