Job summary

Sur La Table is expanding its East Coast store portfolio and seeks a Construction Manager, New Store Development, to lead on-the-ground builds from pre-construction to closeout with full budget accountability. You will build relationships with GCs and subs and drive schedules across multiple projects.

You will manage kitchen buildouts, coordinate with Real Estate, Ops, Finance, IT, and ensure compliance with health codes while delivering projects on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 5–7+ years of construction project management in commercial retail, restaurant, or grocery settings.
• Based in the Midwest or East Coast.
• Experience leading full-store builds from $50K to $2.5M+ with budget accountability.
• Strong budgeting, forecasting, and cost-to-complete tracking.
• Experience with commercial kitchen construction (hoods, gas, plumbing, equipment).
• Proficient at reading drawings, specs, and MEP documents.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage full lifecycle of construction projects from pre-construction to closeout (50K–2.5M+).
• Own budgets, forecasts, and cost tracking end-to-end; flag variances early.
• Solicit, review, and award bids; negotiate with GCs, subs, and vendors.
• Be the owner’s representative on-site and in project communications.
• Coordinate with Real Estate, Store Ops, Finance, IT, and other stakeholders.
• Oversee commercial kitchen buildouts and health-code compliance.
• Manage permitting, inspections, and CO processes with architects and authorities.
• Deliver detailed budget forecasts and variance analyses to leadership.
• Maintain project docs: RFIs, submittals, changes, lien waivers, closeout.
