Location: Columbus, OH (Onsite)
Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead and oversee civil infrastructure and site-development projects across the greater Columbus area. In this role, you will serve as the primary owner's representative in the field, orchestrating daily site operations from pre-construction mobilization to project closeout. You will bridge the gap between engineering designs and physical execution, ensuring every phase meets strict quality benchmarks, regulatory standards, schedule milestones, and budgetary targets.
Core Responsibilities
1. Site Supervision & Quality Assurance
- Direct day-to-day civil construction activities, enforcing full adherence to approved plan sets, technical specifications, and local/state building codes.
- Conduct systematic, hands-on site inspections across earthwork, utility installations, paving, and stormwater management systems.
- Identify field discrepancies, design clashes, and unforeseen site conditions early; partner with civil design teams to engineer practical field resolutions.
- Supervise compliance with Ohio EPA standards, emphasizing site safety, erosion control, and sediment mitigation practices.
2. Commercial & Contract Administration
- Evaluate, audit, and track contractor progress billings, schedule of values, and field quantity take-offs to guarantee accurate pay application approvals.
- Manage the full lifecycle of field change requests, requests for information (RFIs), and formal change orders, mitigating scope creep and unapproved cost overruns.
- Maintain rigorous oversight of master project schedules to catch critical path delays before they impact delivery targets.
3. Stakeholder Alignment & Reporting
- Serve as the central communication hub among site contractors, property developers, design engineers, municipal inspectors, and public agency officials.
- Lead weekly on-site coordination meetings, providing transparent status readouts, actionable next steps, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Generate thorough daily inspection logs, field progress reports, and photo documentation to maintain a clean project audit trail.
- Steer final project acceptance, punch list resolution, municipal sign-offs, and final closeout handovers.
