We are seeking a highly organized, hands-on Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple construction and facility projects. The primary focus of this role will be managing the successful opening of retail store locations while also assisting with the build-out of additional corporate office and distribution space.
The ideal candidate is an experienced project manager who can effectively coordinate contractors, architects, vendors, internal stakeholders, and leadership while managing schedules, budgets, timelines, and project deliverables. This person will be responsible for keeping projects moving forward, identifying potential issues before they become delays, and ensuring that locations are completed and operational according to company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the project management process for the opening of new retail store locations and HQ build out from initial planning through grand opening.
- Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and opening timelines.
- Coordinate architects, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, landlords, and internal teams.
- Track construction progress and ensure work is completed according to approved plans, specifications, budgets, and timelines.
- Conduct regular project meetings to monitor progress and address issues.
- Identify project risks, delays, and potential obstacles and develop solutions to keep projects on schedule.
- Coordinate delivery and installation of fixtures, equipment, signage, technology, furniture, and other store-opening requirements.
- Partner with Operations, Merchandising, IT, Marketing, Loss Prevention, and other departments to ensure stores are fully prepared for opening.
- Manage punch-list items and coordinate final inspections, corrections, and close-out activities.
- Ensure all required permits, inspections, certificates, and approvals are obtained prior to opening.
- Help coordinate workspace layouts, distribution operations, utilities, equipment, technology, furniture, and other infrastructure requirements.
- Identify conflicts between construction activities and ongoing corporate/distribution operations and help develop practical solutions.
- Review contractor and vendor proposals, estimates, invoices, and change orders.
- Track project expenses and help ensure projects remain within approved budgets.
- Evaluate and communicate the impact of scope changes on cost and schedule.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of project management experience, preferably in retail construction, commercial construction, facilities, real estate development, or related industries.
- Experience managing construction, renovation, store openings, or facility improvement projects.
- Strong understanding of construction schedules, project milestones, budgets, and contractor coordination.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities simultaneously.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to read and understand construction plans, drawings, schedules, and project documentation.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work effectively with contractors, vendors, executives, and cross-functional internal teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with project management or construction management software is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel regularly to retail project sites as needed.
