Job description

Our partner is looking for a Construction Manager based in the United States. Take a leading role in delivering construction projects that strengthen communities and support public-sector recovery, infrastructure, housing, and resilience initiatives. In this position, you'll oversee projects throughout their lifecycle, from preconstruction and mobilization to final acceptance and closeout. You'll work closely with government clients, contractors, engineers, designers, inspectors, and compliance teams to ensure projects meet contractual, financial, quality, and safety requirements. Combining technical expertise with strong project controls and clear documentation, you'll help manage risks, resolve issues, and keep work on schedule and within budget. This opportunity is suited to an experienced construction professional who thrives in a consulting environment and is committed to reliable delivery, responsive client service, and meaningful public impact.

Accountabilities
  • Manage all phases of construction delivery, including preconstruction, mobilization, execution, inspections, punch lists, turnover, warranty management, and closeout.
  • Review project scopes, drawings, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, work plans, submittals, requests for information (RFIs), and proposed changes.
  • Monitor contractor performance, staffing, productivity, construction progress, workmanship, safety compliance, and adherence to contractual requirements.
  • Conduct or coordinate site observations, documenting site conditions, work progress, deficiencies, and required corrective actions.
  • Review payment applications, quantity records, stored materials, retainage, change orders, and supporting documentation.
  • Maintain accurate project records and tracking logs for costs, schedules, risks, issues, submittals, RFIs, changes, inspections, and closeout activities.
  • Coordinate with owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, contractors, authorities having jurisdiction, grant administrators, and compliance personnel.
  • Support compliance with permitting, environmental requirements, labor standards, procurement rules, and funding-source conditions.
  • Prepare construction status reports, forecasts, photographic documentation, meeting minutes, and executive-level briefings.
  • Lead project progress meetings, coordinate stakeholders, and facilitate timely resolution of construction issues.
  • Implement project quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) procedures and document-control standards.
  • Support claims prevention, dispute documentation, final project acceptance, and lessons-learned activities.
  • Perform other related responsibilities as needed to support project, client, and organizational objectives.
Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related discipline is preferred; equivalent relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement.
  • At least 7 years of progressive experience in construction management, construction inspection, owner's representation, or contractor-side project delivery.
  • Ability to interpret construction plans and specifications and effectively manage project costs, schedules, quality, and documentation.
  • Experience with public infrastructure, housing rehabilitation or reconstruction, federally funded construction, or disaster recovery projects.
  • Familiarity with government consulting engagements or other regulated, deadline-driven project environments.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and produce accurate, well-organized deliverables.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications and the ability to learn and use client-specific and organizational systems.
  • Experience with construction and project management platforms such as e-Builder, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Procore, or comparable tools.
  • A relevant professional credential, such as CCM, PMP, PE, RA, OSHA, ICC, or an equivalent qualification.
