Job summary

Muller Engineering Company in Colorado is seeking a senior construction management professional to lead on-site execution of complex civil and infrastructure projects across the Rocky Mountain region.

You will coordinate contractors and multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards, monitor safety and quality, and drive successful project delivery from planning through closeout.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent construction management experience.
  • 10–20+ years of experience managing civil/infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience overseeing contractors/subcontractors, scheduling, and cost control.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and enforce engineering plans and drawings.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards, environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication with clients and teams.
  • Proficiency with project management software and scheduling tools.
  • Desire to contribute to high-quality infrastructure improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage schedules, cost projections, resource plans, and risk strategies.
  • Conduct regular field inspections for quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Serve as on-site liaison between engineers, contractors, clients, and inspectors.
  • Manage construction documentation including RFIs, submittals, and change orders.
  • Review and approve pay applications and field changes.
  • Provide updates on schedule, cost, and safety metrics.
  • Support project closeout and turnover to clients.

Job description

This position is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and highly skilled construction management professional who wishes to be part of our expanding team. We are seeking candidates who thrive in a collaborative, field-focused environment and are eager to play a pivotal role in delivering complex civil and infrastructure projects throughout the Rocky Mountain Region. The ideal candidate will lead construction execution, coordinate contractors and multidisciplinary teams, ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards, and support successful project delivery for our clients and communities.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage construction activities for transportation corridors, roadways, stormwater systems, utilities, and water/wastewater infrastructure.
  • Prepare and manage construction schedules, cost projections, resource allocation plans, and risk mitigation strategies to maintain on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Conduct regular field inspections to monitor quality, progress, safety, and environmental compliance; ensure adherence to standards, drawings, and contract requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on-site liaison between engineering/design teams, contractors, clients, regulatory agencies, and third-party inspectors.
  • Manage construction documentation including daily logs, RFIs, submittals, change orders, contract correspondence, and progress reports.
  • Review and approve contractor pay applications, evaluate field changes, and support negotiation and documentation of change orders.
  • Identify and resolve field issues proactively—anticipate constructability concerns, coordinate with design engineers, and implement corrective actions.
  • Provide periodic updates to project managers and senior leadership related to schedule performance, cost status, quality, and safety metrics.
  • Support project closeout activities include punch-list management, as-built verification, final inspections, and turnover of deliverables to clients.
  • Lead teams of construction observers, inspectors, and subconsultants performing various construction management, inspection, and materials testing tasks
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education And/or Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; or equivalent construction management experience.
  • 10-20+ years of experience managing construction of civil/infrastructure projects such as transportation, utilities, stormwater, water/wastewater, and site development.
  • Proven experience overseeing contractors/subcontractors, developing and managing schedules, controlling costs, and delivering projects within defined scope and deadlines.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and enforce engineering plans, specifications, technical drawings, and construction documents.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, safety standards (OSHA), environmental permitting, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with contractors, internal teams, and external clients.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to problem solving in the field.
  • Proficiency with project management software, scheduling tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera), reporting systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • A desire to grow personally and professionally while contributing to high-quality infrastructure improvements across the region.
Preferred Experience

Familiarity with industry related software such as MicroStation, OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and Civil3D.

Licenses/Registrations
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
  • Professional certifications are a plus, including OSHA training, PMP, CCM, or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.

Base salary range for this position is: $115,000 /yr - $150,000/yr dependent on individual education, qualification, experience, and other factors.
