Job description

LOCATION: Houston Metropolitan Area (TX, USA). Approximately 50% travel across project sites in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

REPORTS TO: Chief Operating Officer - North America

MISSION

ExecutiveSurf has exclusively partnered with a global energy and EPC business to appoint a senior Construction Manager for North America. Based in Houston, this person will help lead the delivery and commissioning of complex industrial energy projects across multiple sites in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. This is not a conventional site-management role. The successful candidate will take ownership of the full construction execution process, from site mobilisation and operational readiness through to installation, subcontractor coordination, cost control, quality assurance and safe project delivery.

The role has a significant build-out dimension and will establish and lead a field organisation of more than 30 people, including Site Managers, installation personnel, logistics, warehouse and procurement resources. They will therefore need to combine a hands‑on site background with the managerial maturity and strategic mindset needed to structure an evolving organisation.

Reporting directly to the COO North America, with a dotted‑line relationship to the Corporate Integration Director in Europe, this is a high‑impact opportunity for a practical and commercially aware construction leader who is comfortable operating in a fast‑growing, international EPC environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead construction execution across multiple industrial project sites, ensuring alignment with delivery objectives, EPC strategy, budget, schedule, quality and safety standards.
  • Build, structure and lead a growing field organisation, including Site Managers, installation teams, subcontractors, logistics, warehouse and procurement resources.
  • Oversee site mobilisation, operational readiness, workforce planning and the allocation of people, equipment and materials.
  • Develop and manage construction schedules, milestones, site activities and progress reporting across multiple live projects.
  • Establish and monitor QA/QC processes, inspection plans, punch lists and corrective actions.
  • Control direct site costs, subcontracting, logistics and project performance, including budget preparation and CAPEX/OPEX monitoring.
  • Select, contract and manage subcontractors, ensuring productivity, quality and compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Engineering, Procurement and external stakeholders to ensure clear coordination between field and project teams.
  • Promote a strong HSE culture, ensuring compliance with local regulations, company standards, incident reporting and medical‑surveillance requirements.
  • Support the identification, evaluation and activation of new construction sites across North America.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in construction management, site management or project delivery within complex industrial plants, energy, infrastructure or EPC environments.
  • A hands‑on site‑management background, followed by progression into broader construction or operations leadership responsibilities.
  • Proven experience managing multiple construction sites and distributed field teams simultaneously.
  • Demonstrable experience building, structuring and leading teams from an early‑stage or evolving operational set‑up.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and managing subcontractors, including performance, quality and contractual compliance.
  • Strong capability in construction planning, scheduling, site‑cost control, performance management and budget oversight.
  • Solid understanding of HSE requirements within industrial construction environments.
  • Technical familiarity with industrial mechanical and/or electrical installations, with the ability to interpret drawings, layouts and execution plans.
  • Fluent written and spoken English, with fluent spoken Spanish essential for site communication.
  • Based in Houston or within a realistic commuting distance, with existing US work authorisation and a valid passport.
  • Comfortable travelling extensively across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.

This is a great opportunity as it offers genuine scope to build rather than simply manage. The successful candidate will have a central role in shaping how construction operations are structured and delivered across North America, with direct visibility to senior leadership and tangible influence on people, processes, safety, cost and project performance. For someone who enjoys operating close to the field while also building a scalable organisation, this is a rare opportunity to leave a lasting operational footprint within a growing international energy business.

ExecutiveSurf is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, colour, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, age, or veteran status. ExecutiveSurf is also committed to compliance with all fair employment practices regarding citizenship and immigration status.
