Job summary

Davenergy Solutions, partnering with Planate Management Group (PMG), has been tasked with providing engineering and construction management support for the VA Western Colorado Health Care System. The work assignment will be on-site in Grand Junction, CO.

Responsibilities include leading construction activities, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and contract requirements; reviewing submittals; performing field inspections; and coordinating with the government and design teams to deliver

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or equivalent related to job duties and functions.
• Three or more years of civil/construction management experience, preferably healthcare facilities.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and oral.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and mentorship in construction completion and quality inspection.
• Monitor means and methods and oversee contractor compliance with safety and quality.
• Review submittals for compliance and provide guidance to the government.
• Perform field inspections to evaluate workmanship and materials.
• Ensure compliance with design, specs, standards and applicable codes.
• Identify and track deficiencies and coordinate with construction team to resolve.
• Review safety and quality programs and health, safety and environment compliance.
• Provide constructability input and design oversight.
• Visit project sites to gather information on facility/site conditions and develop recommendations.
• Support procurement package development for design and construction.
• Perform other responsibilities as appropriate.

Requirements

• Provide leadership and mentorship in the completion of construction work and the documentation and inspection of construction quality
• Monitor the means and methods of the construction contractor, providing oversight and direction to ensure compliance with contractual, safety and quality requirements
• Review contractor submittals for compliance, provides approval and/ or guidance to the government
• Perform field inspections to evaluate the work performed and materials used and verify quality of workmanship,
• Ensure compliance with the design, specifications, standards and applicable codes and regulations;
• Identify and track deficiencies and deviations from plans; works with construction team to mitigate and resolve
• Review and implement construction safety and quality programs, ensure regulations on health, safety and the environment (HSE)
• Review project plans and specifications for technical soundness and determine practicability from a construction management standpoint
• Provide design input and oversight related to constructability and other engineering disciplines
• Visit project sites to obtain information on facility/site conditions and develop recommendations during project development
• Support the development of procurement packages for design and construction
• Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Education/Experience

• Degree in Civil or equivalent experience related to job duties and functions.
• Three (3) or more years of civil/construction management work experience preferably gained from healthcare or hospital facilities.
• Previous experience with the Department of Veterans Affairs is an advantage.
• Knowledgeable in construction scheduling methods and of building and construction crafts.
• Good English communication both written and oral.
• Proficient in using Microsoft Office suites.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to see, hear, walk, drive, climb, reach, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds. Must be prepared to encounter all construction site conditions, including noise, dust, heights, odors, and enclosed spaces, and be physically capable of traversing sites with unstable footing, stairs, rough terrain, adverse weather, ladders, roofs, and other mobility-challenging conditions. Must possess the physical ability to take measurements, perform tests comparing in-place work to contract requirements, and observe work activities throughout the course of construction.
