Job summary

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is seeking a civil engineering or construction management intern to support the Construction Management department with field inspections, documentation, and project coordination. This internship provides hands-on experience in transportation projects and field activities.

The intern will assist with inspections, measurements, RFIs, submittals, and project updates, while learning QC procedures and company standards under supervision.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in a related field.
• Full-time student pursuing an ABET-accredited undergraduate degree in civil engineering or construction management with an interest in transportation projects.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Assist qualified field inspectors with standard inspection procedures during construction for safety and conformance to plans and codes.
• Perform routine field tests on concrete, soils, aggregates, and other construction materials under supervision.
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures to ensure compliance with plans and codes.
• Gathers and maintains record documents.
• Assist project staff with tracking RFIs, submittals and shop drawings for review by engineers or project managers.
• Collaborate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, and other team members on project updates and communication materials.
