Job summary

Engineered Structures, Inc. (ESI) offers an on-site internship in Meridian, ID, providing hands-on experience on active construction projects alongside Superintendents, Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers.

You will become part of Team ESI, gaining practical experience, developing technical and professional skills, and learning how successful projects are built. The program bridges classroom learning with real-world construction exposure and may lead to full-time

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree, emphasis in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Must be within two years, or less, of graduation.
  • Strong interest in building a career in construction, project management, and learning in a hands-on environment.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Represent ESI professionally with customers, design teams, city officials, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Assist with project planning, coordination, and execution during various phases of construction.
  • Support project documentation, including RFIs, submittals, drawing updates, meeting minutes, and related records.
  • Assist with field operations and coordination of subcontractors and trade partners.
  • Participate in project meetings, jobsite walks, and project-related problem solving.
  • Gain exposure to bidding, project management, construction operations, project closeout, and warranty activities.
  • Contribute to the success of the project team through a variety of learning and support opportunities.

Job description

Gain hands-on experience on active construction projects while working alongside Superintendents, Field Engineers, Project Engineers, and Project Managers. ESI is licensed in 43 states, providing opportunities to gain experience across a variety of project locations, project types, and geographic markets.

At ESI Construction, interns don't just observe the work, they become part of Team ESI and contribute to the success of real projects and business operations. You'll gain practical experience, develop technical and professional skills, and learn how successful projects are built. This internship is designed to bridge classroom learning with real-world construction experience while providing exposure to a variety of career paths within the construction industry.

Many ESI interns return for additional internship experiences, and for some, the program serves as a pathway to full-time opportunities after graduation.

Internship Overview
  • Assigned to an active construction project with opportunities to visit the office and other job sites.
  • Internship opportunities may be available in the Meridian, ID area or at other project locations throughout ESI's operating regions.
  • Typically working 20+ hours per week during the school year and 40+ hours per week during the summer (schedule dependent on project needs).
  • Mentored by a Superintendent, Field Engineer, Project Engineer, and/or Project Manager with exposure to their responsibilities.
