Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a Construction/Project Controls professional to support pre-construction planning, field mobilization, and ongoing site supervision for industrial projects in the United States.

Responsibilities include developing work plans, monitoring progress, cost control, and risk mitigation, while coordinating with engineers and subcontractors to ensure safety and quality. Strong communication and MS Office skills are required; US work authorization is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management or Electrical Engineering.
  • Some experience involving industrial construction management, including internship or similar experience.
  • General understanding of construction labor knowledge and labor planning.
  • Understanding of project controls tools for managing large construction projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to work with and guide others in potentially adversarial situations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire.
  • Willingness or ability to use modern tools, automation, and AI to solve engineering problems.
  • Strong engineering judgment and verification of AI/automation results.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of project-specific construction management and/or commissioning management work plans.
  • Perform home office or remote pre-construction planning work before field mobilization.
  • Support site construction management and commissioning staff.
  • Monitor construction and commissioning progress, cost, quality, scope, and safety.
  • Manage and mitigate construction and commissioning work risk.
  • Report construction progress and cost to the Project Manager or Owner.
  • Attend construction project performance review meetings.
  • Develop schedules, phasing, and lookaheads.
  • Track project progress and maintain schedules.
  • Ensure job sites remain safe, clean, and orderly.
  • Communicate field conflicts and notify the internal project team.
  • Maintain project documentation.
  • Collaborate with construction teams, engineers, subcontractors, and other project members.
  • Monitor and report project progress.
  • Adhere to estimated costs and ensure projects remain on budget and profitable.
  • Support supervision of field staff and provide constructive feedback.
  • Coordinate staffing requests.
  • Resolve on-site issues and emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and quality standards
