Job summary

Salt Lake Community College (UT) seeks an adjunct Construction Management instructor to teach CMGT courses progressing students toward AS or AAS degrees, including CMGT 1010, 1130, 1450, 2640, and 2820. This is a pooled, on-site adjunct position with semester-by-semester appointments and no guaranteed continued employment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum eight full-time years of paid construction work experience, or six years with an AAS and related qualifications.
  • General Building Contractor’s License preferred.
  • Experience or certifications related to taught classes (LEED, NAHB Certified Green Professional, OSHA).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse student groups and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively prepare and teach classes to facilitate student learning.
  • Assess student performance and maintain records.
  • Develop, distribute, and adhere to current course outlines and/or syllabi.
  • Demonstrate and support professional commitment to Division, School, and College mission and values.
  • Maintain currency in the theory and practice of Construction Management and Sustainable Building.
  • Becomes familiar with, and abides by, all college policies that govern interactions with colleagues, staff, and administrators.
  • Maintain professional etiquette in communications with students, staff, faculty, and administrators.
  • Provide appropriate and timely feedback for all assignments.
  • Return graded assignments promptly per department standards.
  • Maintain student attendance records and grades.
  • Conduct evaluations of student performance.
  • Inform students of progress and submit grades by deadlines.
  • Assist in maintaining a safe instructional environment.
  • Prepare and submit incident reports as needed.
  • Maintain professional behavior and boundaries.
  • Handle/respond to student concerns promptly.
  • Maintain professional appearance as defined by policy.
  • Complete required trainings and know FERPA guidelines.
  • Provide ADA accommodations as requested.
