Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of litigation from inception through trial and appeal.

• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda on substantive issues.
• Attend CMCs and court hearings; prepare and argue motions and handle depositions.
• Coordinate with clients, insurers, experts, and witnesses throughout case lifecycle.

We are seeking an Associate Attorney with a minimum of 4 years of litigation experience to join our expanding Litigation team, with a particular focus on construction litigation. The ideal candidate will have experience handling complex civil litigation matters and possess excellent research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills. The candidate should be comfortable taking ownership of litigation assignments and working closely with senior attorneys and partners throughout all stages of a matter.

Title of Position: Associate – Construction Litigation Attorney

Location: Firmwide

Responsibilities:

The associate will have the opportunity to engage in a broad range of litigation activities, including:

• Manage all phases of litigation, from case inception through resolution and trial
• Conduct and respond to written discovery, including interrogatories, requests for admission, requests for production, and subpoenas
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other litigation documents, including motions for summary judgment
• Review and analyze construction contracts, agreements, change orders, specifications, and related project documents to identify contractual obligations, risks, and potential claims and defenses
• Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda addressing substantive and procedural legal issues
• Attend and participate in Case Management Conferences (CMCs) and other court virtual hearings
• Prepare and argue motions and assist with all aspects of motion practice.
• Take and defend depositions, including depositions of key party witnesses, experts, and other relevant witnesses
• Participate in client interviews, witness preparation, mediations, and trial preparation
• Engage directly with insurance professionals, in-house clients, experts, third-party administrators, opposing counsel, and witnesses
• Attend and participate in mediations and settlement discussions
• Assist with trial proceedings, including preparation of exhibits, witnesses, and other trial materials
• California Bar admission in good standing

The anticipated base salary range for this full-time role is $165,000–$225,000, plus annual performance-based bonuses. The actual salary within that range will depend on the selected candidate’s years of practice and experience. The firm offers a hybrid work arrangement option, reasonable billable hours requirement, annual discretionary and billable hours bonuses, competitive health insurance benefits, and 401(k) with partial match.
