Job summary

White Construction seeks an Estimator to establish and lead estimating efforts in Houston, reporting to the VP of Estimating in Austin. This is the first-ever hiring for this market, presenting an incredible opportunity to own an entire territory.

The ideal candidate will analyze plans, collaborate with project teams, and craft accurate, competitive bids for diverse commercial projects. A construction-related degree and strong communication are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction-related field from an accredited four-year college or university.
• Excellent writing, communication, and organization skills.
• Self-starter, results driven and able to work independently.
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
• Ability to multi-task in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Analyze architectural plans, blueprints, and specifications to prepare estimates for drywall projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather data.
• Calculate material quantities and labor costs for each project.
• Evaluate materials and methods for cost-efficiency and quality.
• Prepare detailed bids and proposals for clients.
• Communicate with clients, architects, and contractors to address questions.

Estimator Responsibilities:

• Demonstrated, on multiple projects, expertise in all aspects of project estimating from project pre-planning thru commissioning/closeout.
• Proven track record of successful estimating performance as measured by internal customer satisfaction, absence of project disputes based on budget/estimating problems, profitability, timely completion, project documentation, project transition from estimating to operations and estimating staff development.
• Analyze architectural plans, blueprints, and project specifications to prepare accurate estimates for drywall projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and data.
• Calculate material quantities and labor costs required for each project.
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials and construction methods to ensure cost-efficiency and quality.
• Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals for clients.
• Communicate effectively with clients, architects, and contractors to address questions and provide clarifications.
• Stay updated on industry trends and pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.

Education/Certification Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in Construction related field.
• Excellent writing, communication, and organization skills.
• Positive, enthusiastic, and energetic attitude.
• Self-starter, results driven and able to work independently.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders to foster trust and partnership.
• Ability to multi-task and is comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.
