Job summary

White Construction in Houston seeks a pioneer Estimator to establish and lead our estimating efforts in this market, reporting to the VP of Estimating in Austin. This is the first dedicated hire for the Houston territory, offering an exceptional opportunity to OWN an entire market segment.

We are a 50+ year leading commercial general contractor with a healthy backlog and long employee tenure. You will analyze plans, collaborate with PMs and subs, and prepare competitive bids while advancing

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Construction related field.
• Excellent writing, communication, and organization skills.
• Self-starter, results driven and able to work independently.
• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders to foster trust and partnership.
• Ability to multi-task and is comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrated, on multiple projects, expertise in all aspects of project estimating from project pre-planning thru commissioning/closeout.
• Proven track record of successful estimating performance as measured by internal customer satisfaction, absence of project disputes based on budget/estimating problems, profitability, timely completion, project documentation, project transition from estimating to operations and estimating staff development.
• Analyze architectural plans, blueprints, and project specifications to prepare accurate estimates for drywall projects.
• Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, and suppliers to gather necessary information and data.
• Calculate material quantities and labor costs required for each project.
• Evaluate and select appropriate materials and construction methods to ensure cost-efficiency and quality.
• Prepare detailed and competitive bids and proposals for clients.
• Communicate effectively with clients, architects, and contractors to address questions and provide clarifications.
• Stay updated on industry trends and pricing to ensure competitive and accurate estimates.

Education/Certification Requirements:

• Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders to foster trust and partnership.
• Ability to multi-task and is comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.
