Position Summary:

Laborer Apprentices will learn a variety of tasks to support construction and carpentry projects. This apprentice will participate in a formal New York State DOL certified apprenticeship program.

Duties:

• Unload, haul, and stage construction materials (lumber, concrete blocks, pipes) across the work site.
• Prepare layout area where construction will take place.
• Clear debris, hazards, and trash; erect temporary structures, ladders, or scaffolding; maintain an organized, safe job site.
• Safely use hand and power tools (e.g., jackhammers, saws, drills) and assist with basic equipment maintenance.
• Aid in rebar installation, concrete pouring, concrete cutting, and concrete finishing to ensure structural integrity.
• Support skilled craftspeople by holding materials, measuring, cutting, or performing basic tasks; learn through on-the-job support of more experienced personnel.

Requirements:

• Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, experience and familiarity with hand tools a plus.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Self-motivated and personally organized.
• Dependable and reliable.
• Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.
• A strong team player with a demonstrated track record of taking initiative to support the team.
• CLEAN DRIVING RECORD with at least two years of driving experience.

Working Conditions And Physical Effort:

• Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises.
• Considerable physical activity. Requires heavy physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required
• Comfort working at heights is essential
