Job summary

M/I Homes has been building new homes of outstanding quality and superior design for more than 50 years. The Construction Intern will assist the Construction Manager in coordinating on-site activities and provide general labor for homes under construction.

Responsibilities include inspections, scheduling, coordinating subcontractors, and assisting in pre-settlement tasks. Ideal candidates are pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Construction Management with knowledge of construction

Qualifications

• Ideal candidate is pursuing a Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Construction Management.
• Knowledge of home building industry, codes, regulations, and construction processes preferred.
• Strong carpentry and blueprint-reading skills with tool experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist in inspecting homes in different construction phases to monitor workflow and quality.
• Assist in scheduling subcontractors and coordinating delivery of materials and tools.
• Serve as liaison between subcontractors and management; report issues from inspections.
• Perform minor repairs and install tasks prior to pre-settlement inspections.
• Support customer-service efforts to maintain satisfaction.
• Lock/unlock homes and perform routine computer work (Build Pro, Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Meet inspectors and participate in home walk-throughs with homeowners.
• Read blueprints and ensure a clean, safe work environment.
