Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company is offering an undergraduate internship to gain hands-on experience in the construction field. Interns will assist project teams through all phases of construction, from bidding to final completion, and may work in the office or on remote sites as needed.

Assignments include office and job site duties; relocation may be required and transportation is needed. Interns will learn engineering and project management practices under direct supervision.

Qualifications

• Open to undergraduate students seeking hands-on practical experience in construction.
• Assist project teams in managing construction projects through all phases from bidding to final completion.

Responsibilities

• Interns report to a project manager, superintendent, project engineer or field engineer.
• Work may be in office or on a jobsite, or a mix of both.
• Tasks include quantity take-off, layout, preconstruction surveys, shop drawing review, RFIs, and coordinating with subcontractors and vendors.
• Attend weekly progress meetings and help with scheduling, cost estimating, and project management.
