Job summary

The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company in Fort Lauderdale invites undergraduates to join as interns to learn the engineering and technical aspects of projects both in the field and office, with assignments across bidding to final completion.

Interns will support with quantity take-off, layout, surveys, shop drawing review, RFIs, coordination with subs, meetings, document reviews, and cost tracking, gaining hands-on experience while housing may be provided in certain situations.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate student seeking hands-on construction experience.

Responsibilities

• You may be assigned to the office, jobsite or mix of both.
• Assist with quantity take-off, layout and preconstruction surveys.
• Review and maintain logs for shop drawings, submittals and RFIs.
• Respond to subcontractor RFIs and coordinate with subs and suppliers.
• Attend weekly progress meetings and assist in coordinating owner, architect and subs.
• Assist with bid process, reviewing construction documents and revisions.
• Maintain field records and assist with cost estimation, scheduling and project management.
• Support punchlist development and project closeout activities.
• Cooperate with field project management and perform other duties as assigned.
