Job summary

Smith Douglas Homes is offering an 8-week Summer Internship in construction management across the Southeast and Texas. This hands-on program lets interns work directly with Construction Managers to uphold high standards of quality, efficiency, cost control, and customer satisfaction.

Interns will assist with daily site activities, material deliveries, QA walks, safety oversight, and homeowner orientation sign-offs while gaining exposure to field operations in residential construction.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Construction Management with interest in residential construction.
• Strong interest in learning field operations and site safety.
• Capable of collaborative teamwork and following directions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee community in the Construction Manager’s absence.
• Perform routine production activities and minor repairs.
• Sign off on material deliveries when needed.
• Attend QA walks and manage follow-up actions.
• Assist with Homeowner Orientation sign-off.
• Keep drive barricades in place and secure sites daily.
• Monitor the community to enforce safety regulations.
• Install water meter location cards.
• Oversee building and painting of permit boards.
• Coordinate and assist with inspections.

Position Summary:

Smith Douglas Homes is excited to offer an 8-week Summer Internship Program designed to give college students hands‑on experience in construction management. This immersive program allows interns to work directly with Construction Managersin the completion of homes to the highest standards of quality, efficiency, cost control, and customer satisfaction.

What You’ll Do:

• Oversee community in Construction Manager’s absence
• Perform routine production activities (minor repair and replacement installations)
• Meet with and sign off on deliveries of materials when needed
• Attend Quality Assurance walk and manage any follow up activities
• Assist with Homeowner Orientation Sign off
• Keep all drive barricades in place, unlock and lock homes daily
• Monitor community to review and enforce safety regulations
• Install water meter location cards
• Oversee building and painting of permit boards
• Adjust/clean out water meter boxes so municipality will set meters
• Ensure job site cleanliness
• Attend and perform inspections

Education:

We're looking for students currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management with an interest in residential construction.
