The internship provides mentorship, real-world project experience, and opportunities to develop practical construction skills across multiple commercial projects in the Scranton area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required or preferred.
• Enrolment in a trade, vocational, or construction-related program is preferred.
• Interest in commercial construction and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist experienced carpenters and tradesmen with construction tasks.
• Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
• Measure, cut, and prepare materials under supervision.
• Assist with framing, installation of doors, hardware, trim, and blocking.
• Help maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
• Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials.
• Safely operate basic hand and power tools after training.
• Follow company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Participate in training, mentorship, and skill development opportunities.

Construction Intern (Internship)
Department: Construction

Mericle Construction, Inc. is seeking a motivated and eager Commercial Construction Intern to join our construction team. This entry-level position is designed for individuals interested in building a career in commercial construction. The Commercial Construction Intern will work under the guidance of experienced construction leaders to develop hands-on skills in construction, framing, installation, layout, and job site safety.

This role provides on-the-job training, mentorship, and opportunities to gain practical experience while contributing to a variety of commercial construction projects.

Mericle Construction, Inc. is the largest, full-service developer of industrial, office, flex, and medical space along Pennsylvania’s I-81 Corridor. Mericle has developed more than 100 buildings in the Scranton/Pittston/Wilkes-Barre/Hazleton area. The Mericle team includes licensed architects, land planners, professional engineers, surveyors, licensed electricians, plumbers, carpenters, leasing and marketing professionals, property managers, and more.

Responsibilities:

• Assist experienced carpenters and tradesman with commercial construction tasks and daily activities.
• Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and project specifications.
• Measure, cut, and prepare materials under supervision.
• Assist with framing, installation of doors, hardware, trim, blocking, and other construction components.
• Help maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites.
• Load, unload, and transport tools, equipment, and materials.
• Safely operate basic hand and power tools after receiving proper training.
• Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and OSHA guidelines.
• Participate in training, mentorship, and skill development opportunities.
• Work collaboratively with project teams and other trades on construction projects.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Currently enrolled in a trade, vocational, or construction-related program preferred.
• Interest in commercial construction and a desire to learn the trade.
• Ability to follow instructions and learn from experienced team members.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and positive attitude.
• Basic knowledge of hand tools and construction practices is a plus but not required.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing.
• Ability to work outdoors and in active construction environments.
• Capability to work on ladders and scaffolding under supervision.
