Job summary

Qualifications

• College degree or minimum 5 years’ work experience with Transportation or Civil related projects.
• 4+ years of experience in the supervision or inspection of engineering construction work.
• Ability to read and interpret complex construction plans and specifications.
• Valid California Class C driver's license and an acceptable driver’s record are required.
• Desired: Certified Public Infrastructure Inspector (CPII).
• Desired: ICC Reinforced Concrete Inspection Certification; ICC Masonry Inspection Certification; ICC Welding Inspection Certification; ACI Concrete Field-Testing Technician – Grade 1 Certification; Qualified SWPPP Certification; Fall Protection Safety Training; First Aid & CPR.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and report on a variety of construction projects.
• Advise the Resident Engineer or Agency Project Manager and inform contractors of variances from approved plans and specifications.
• Take samples of materials, prepare test specimens, and assist with field tests or refer samples for laboratory analysis.
• Check public utility locations to avoid interference with construction work.
• Check roadway, slope, and structure grades, flow lines, and structure locations.
• Review contractor traffic control plans and field traffic control; review project safety.
• Inspect earthwork grading, asphalt concrete placement, mix proportions, and mix control.
• Inspect concrete delivery, placement, and curing, and reinforcing steel placement.
• Assist the Project Manager with review of project submittals, RFIs, and CCOs.
• Verify material acceptability through Certificates of Compliance, shop drawings, and test reports.
• Maintain material and inspection records.
• Maintain a daily diary, photo log, and contract item quantities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
