Job summary

Mozamo Engineering, Inc. is seeking a Construction Inspector in Sonoma County, CA to assist the Resident Engineer with field and office tasks for roadway rehabilitation and HMA paving.

You will perform QA inspections, read plans, document observations with diaries and photos, and support project closeout. The role requires strong communication, safety awareness, and ability to work nights/weekends as needed in CA.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with two years of continuing education in engineering or surveying.
• Four years of construction experience on major public works projects.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work nights and weekends on CA projects.
• Must apply safety philosophy to all operations.
• Ability to work safely outdoors in hazards on construction sites.
• Valid California Driver’s License required.
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.

Mozamo Engineering is seeking a Construction Inspector in the Sonoma County, CA. The Construction Inspector assists the Resident Engineer in all aspects of field and office engineering work related to the administration of construction projects to include conducting field inspections and documenting observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to roadway rehabilitation and HMA paving.

Responsibilities

• Performs quality assurance field inspections to ensure the construction work meets the requirements of the contract plans and specifications.
• Reads and interprets construction drawings and specifications, and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents
• Documents observations of construction activities through daily diaries and photos
• Maintains project quantity sheets and assists with monthly progress pay estimates
• Monitors and enforces labor compliance
• Ensures material incorporated into the work is approved for use, proper documentation is received, and quality assurance material testing is performed
• Provides guidance to less-experienced field staff as needed
• Collaborates with other field representatives or project leads
• Issues non-compliance reports and field memos as necessary
• Assists the project lead in preparing final project closeout documents, including the resolution of potential claims
• Perform other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with two years of continuing education in engineering or surveying
• Four years of construction experience on major public works projects(Caltrans experience preferred).
• Proficient using computer software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)and Adobe Acrobat
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Must be able to work nights and weekends as required, to any assigned project within the State of CA
• Must apply safety philosophy and program to all operations
• Ability to work safely in an outside environment with exposure to hazards on construction sites, including heights, highway traffic, and traversing rough terrain in evaluating highway construction
• Must be able to perform moderate physical activity including but not limited to walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
• Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs
• Requires close visual acuity to review and interpret plan details
• Must be able to survey and inspect construction sites in rough terrain and variable temperatures
• Valid California Driver’s License required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science degree in civil engineering or Engineer-in-Training certificate(or equivalent to two years of construction experience).
• Knowledge and experience with Caltrans specifications
• Proficient using computer scheduling software programs (P3, P6, Sure Trak, Microsoft Projects).
• Relevant industry certifications (ACI Field Technician I, QSP, etc.).
